Who can take part?
ein&zwanzig is the competition for design students and graduates who have graduated no more than three years ago at the time of registration. Both individual and group registrations of up to three people are possible, whereby all group members must meet the above conditions.
What kind of works can be entered?
Products from the fields of furniture, home accessories, lighting, floor coverings, wallpaper, textiles and lifestyle can be submitted to the competition. The works should not be older than one year and not yet available on the market. In case of an award, a 1:1 model/prototype must be available.
How are entries submitted?
Submission to the competition is done by uploading a maximum of 5 high-resolution images (CMYK, JPG, 300dpi) in the MyDesignCouncil system. The images should show the product in an optimal way.
Which criteria will be assessed?
From all submissions, the jury selects a shortlist, which is presented in an online gallery. From the shortlist, in the second step 20 products will be awarded the Winner label and one product the "Best of Best" label. The submitted works will be evaluated according to the following criteria, whereby the jury reserves the right to weight them: Conceptual quality, design quality, technical and formal independence, development potential, degree of innovation, symbolic and emotional content.

The winners also benefit from comprehensive marketing measures and the international network of the German Design Council. The German Design Council presents the 21 outstanding newcomers and their work to the international design scene and relevant business contacts.

This is what you get
The “Shortlist”, “Winner” and “Best of Best” awards may be used with no spatial or temporal restrictions for the person’s own communication.
The prize-winning works and the designers will be presented with detailed profiles in the competition publication.
The winners and their works will be introduced to a wide audience online at www.ein-und-zwanzig.com
The German Design Council will support the winners in professional public relations and will incorporate them in comprehensive communication measures for the competition.
All participants in the exhibition will receive a high-quality certificate at the exhibition opening in Milan.
